Thank you so much for this post Peta. I recorded a podcast episode sharing similar thoughts last week, and I’m scheduled to put it out next week. I’ve been feeling a bit of hesitancy because of everything you talked about here—what response will it get? Will I be misunderstood? Is it necessary? But reading your post today reminds me how important it is for people who are also feeling like me/you to have THESE type of support posts/pods too. And for what it’s worth, when and if you’re ready I’d LOVE to read your other post. Even if you somehow release it privately behind a paywall. I respect your boundaries either way 💛 Thank you for your writing I love hearing your heart.

At least a pod you can give more context you know? There is always a way to position things gracefully in my opinion… but timing does matter in this climate- so trust your intuition. I feel we always get an inner yes or no when it comes to sharing. You’ll know :) pray for discernment every time. As for my old post, ahh. We’ll see- I kind of feel over it, you know? But we’ll see. I want to focus on writing about the life giving things I wish for others (most of the time!) xxx

This was so refreshing to read. The prayer at the end and expansion on what "kills expression" felt super timely for me. Thank you. To me, boundaries are becoming about more than just setting limits, they play a role in making a clearing for aligned expression and creation to happen.

I always find myself nodding along to your beautiful writing, Peta. I think that, with enough time spent on social media, even the most grounded person would crumble under the pressure of being expected to fall in line with the currently accepted point of view. It’s wild out there. The boundaries that you speak of are so incredibly vital in this day and age.

It’s true. I don’t know how people with huge accounts do it- those who are much more polarizing than I’ve ever been. I hold back a lot because I have to— my kids come first and I know my limits x

Thanks so much for this message, Peta. Even though I’m not a parent, I’m seriously reevaluating my time online and how I wish to share and show up after this past week. I’m off all social media except Notes, but Notes has been...a lot. The level of hatred, intolerance, and vitriol from folks who I’m fairly sure consider themselves tolerant and inclusive is wild.

Side note: Do you have any recs for light-reading lifestyle/fashion/culture/etc. newsletters or blogs that aren’t railing against people who didn’t vote the same as them? I feel extremely unwelcome on sites and pubs that I used to visit daily.

That’s exactly it— people are forgetting the values that underpin their political views, and also it seems their basic humanity. I feel you. I don’t off the top of my head (been deep in books lately) but you know what I’ll do- I’ll post your question as a note and report back what recommendations I get back! I’m curious to find some new lifestyle reads too, let’s see what we find :)

Thank you Peta. As I have been involved with your work for quite some time, I'm interested when you write about your journey, especially the leftist to more conservative aspect, and I hope you have more entries about your evolution in this area. Mostly because nobody else will talk about it for reasons that you talk about, and as somebody who is somewhat left of centre, I love to understand and talk to people with different beliefs. I'm Canadian but my daughter lives in the US and most Canadians follow US politics quite closely. I honestly see no harm in listening to the stories of people with views quite different than mine, and I don't feel threatened, or incensed, I'm honestly fascinated by how people change because I find there are always nuggets of wisdom there. Over the last number of years, especially with covid, and now this election, we've become so divided as people that we can't even have a calm intellectual discussion about anything anymore, and that's quite sad.

Thanks Bo. I think people have more in common than they realize, that’s the thing. When we get to the root of what we value and want for the world, we all have so much more in common. Xx

Agreed, we are so much more the same than we are different.

Peta, this post spoke to the depths of my heart and soul. Thank you for sharing your truth in this beautiful post. I am someone who, in the last year, has stepped away from the narrative to scale, scale, scale my business. I was done, burnout, from what started to feel like a soulless pursuit. I took a break from it. Didn't post on Instagram. Last year I found God again and began this beautiful journey back HOME, inside, in Spirit. I am also expecting and am soon to be a mother. Yet, one thing that I cannot shake off is the desire to create, share, and write. And I have a new business that I am slowly building that feels good (and that I prayed for). But I feel so far removed from who I used to be that sometimes, I think to myself: "What do I even write? What do I even say? How should I show up? What will people think?" And so, everything you wrote made me feel less alone, and that this journey is mine to create, however I want, without compromising on my values, boundaries and the people I care for the most. And that what I think people should say shouldn't stop me from SERVING. Much like yourself, if you never wrote or posted, I wouldn't have found you. And I know there are women out there who need me. I am so grateful I found your page on Instagram, and found Honeycomb. I was guided to your page, with the transition I am going through at the moment. Thank you and God bless 🤍
