Absolutely adore this! In our current culture where for women marriage and kids and celebrating our men is poo poo'd it's beautiful to see it celebrated and honoured. The quality of our lives is truly driven by the quality of our relationships and our own growth is accelerated within them. 27 years married for me and I am an atheist and marriage counsellor (and history nerd) and as much as I understand the religious history of the institution which many women may feel is oppressive, whether you are technically married or not, remaining in a relationship, raising children, staying connected to complex extended family members and honouring the family system is still the most direct route to fulfilment and purpose on the planet.
Not only is he those things, he radiates them from the depth of his soul, even if you only meet him a few times, his energy precedes him, and you feel welcome and safe in his presence.
Thank you for sharing this celebration with us-- having had a decade of marriage as well, I can say that your list of recommendations is the best one I've ever seen. May God bless and keep you both!
Such a beautiful compilation of insights and inspirations. Happy Anniversary to you and Erik. It's been beautiful to be a witness to your love and life story from a distance. I am grateful for the way you've written about "starting at the bottom" in Marriage. I've been in the early stages of writing a speech for my youngest sons upcoming wedding and that beautifully shares what I've been working to put into words while keeping the authentic truths and opportunities of what marriage can be. I'm in my second marriage, approaching 10 years together and my husband and I when needed remind each other of our blessing in "being teammates" as well. Love that. Peta, Thank You for sharing your life, your love and your lessons, they land and help more than you know girl. Big Love š

This is so good! Yes to 100 different marriages. 100 different versions of each other. Always being a student, learning the new ones - you, him, and the marriage. And always doing it on the same team working towards the same vision with God at the center keeping all of that complexity together.
This was such a beautiful read it made me teary, and a very refreshing take on marriage š„¹ā¤ļø
