I had to give up Instagram last summer. I needed that longer, slower art and found I was able to finally exhale again. Sharing my life/art weekly - sometimes biweekly - has been much more nourishing than sharing it daily. I love your words Peta! Masterpieces can take years and decades - not minutes. Congratulations on Honeycomb, I love the new name! xx
I have found that time off instagram has increased my love for people. I found my heart getting heavy and overwhelmed online, turning into a sad apathy. You’re so right, sometimes online life feels more central. Offline life is always the real, quiet human stuff - and my heart hungers for the real stuff ❤️
Love this and agree that filling all the little free moments in our day w social media keeps us from the creative pings! I wrote about quitting IG and how much it improves my mothering and creativity!
You are honey for my body and soul, you reflect often what I am afraid to say. Thank you for your long post, for being you, for sharing it. I wish to hug you right now.
Regarding social media, I would also add. for me, the anxiety that comes with seeing such creative posts and feeling the constant need to become so much better at it, that I just don't have time for. Which is because, I'm really involved in local giving. Maybe I should feel far better about that rather than feeling stressed about putting social media on the back burner because I have been asked to get involved in a project, like the fundraiser right now in my little Bahamian island of Exuma where we are raising money to refurbish our children's centre for kids in need down here. I mean I've sold 550 raffle tickets in 7 days and 18 event tickets, am Board secretary and am single-handedly creating the decor and ambience for our wine & cheese event this coming weekend. Isn't this more important that than learning to create better reels? Thank you Peta, this caused a huge shift this morning and my eyes are welling up. Interesting you mentioned C.S. Lewis. Just before I came down to Exuma, I was at a used book store (which I LOVE). Just before I walk into these places I ask for the book (or map or thing) to find me. I walked over to a shelf and a tiny little book that would have been easy to miss, pulled my eyes to it: "God in The Dock" by C.S. Lewis. As soon as my fundraising event is done this weekend, it is the book I will read. Love and blessings Honey!
'The sheer volume of things I get excited about' ahhh yes, it hurts my brain sometimes this trait of mine. So thank you, truly, for your post today. The world spins to fast, it makes me dizzy. Today, I am choosing to slow down. 🙏
Same, same, same re: IG — easily excitable = long breaks! I'm never my best self when plugged in, even if the returns feel extra good. Also, related: I recently heard Rabbi Greg Hershberg say, "Don't let your gifts take you where your fruit can't keep you, aka 1 Cor 13:1)". If interested, you can find it on YouTube, "The Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) Part 3." If you're new to Rabbi Greg, start with his testimony video "Rabbi Greg Hershberg Testimony", Wow.

You’re welcome Emilie! (I can’t do those cool accents on your name on my keyboard!)
This really resonated. Thank you dear Peta 🙏🏻
Pleasure, Meg xx

You’re amazing Bo!!!
Back at ya sister!
That’s the thing isn’t it - the Socials are so fleeting, what’s left for our descendants? Long art, and long term thinking, is a must!
Yep!
so good! I didn’t even know how badly I needed to hear this.❤️
Goodo :)
This resonate so much ❤️ Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for this ❤️
I love that you changed it to honeycomb and for all the reasons you have shared. Beautiful!
It’s so yummy isn’t it.

Dizzy indeed!
Let life be the main thing - ohhhh yess, so simply and perfectly put, you have a knack for that!
The name really does matter, it has a specific frequency and therefore activation in the body of the artist. Honeycomb is a delicious name 🍯
Thankyou once again Peta. Reading this with ginger tea (and honey) in hand while my little one naps . Your art gives me a big exhale. Thankyou 🥰🙏❤️
Wow. God used you to speak to me. Thank you so much for your obedience! This was so refreshing to read. 🥹
