God made us creators, not beggars. Here’s what I call Visceral Prayer — it may change your life.
Raw, unfiltered thoughts. Take or leave according to your own discernment. I trust you to take what you need and chuck the rest in the bin according to the God voice inside YOU.
Before I go on, I’ve linked these older posts for context. You don’t need to click now, but for those interested in more of my journey they might be interesting that’s all.
Does God give hints about the true nature of healing and disease in The Bible? From 2024. One of my favourite ones ever.
My imperfect faith and why many are yearning for God ( My views have changed since this piece but I still think it’s good context as to my curious and honest process).
Ok let’s dig into this beast of a topic!!
If you are like me and you have been both in new age and Christian circles, you will have heard these words:
“Manifesting is demonic.”
You will probably have heard things like “yoga is demonic” too.
You may even know someone who thinks two coffees a day is demonic, or any music other than worship music is demonic. I get messages frequently telling me that homeopathy is demonic.
Strange, because I have witnessed straight up miracles with homeopathy— people who have healed years of buried trauma and illness no other form of medicine came close to improving. In many cases, it was the answer to their prayers.
I saw an article recently about yoga saving a woman’s life from anorexia. I haven’t read it all but sharing it here.
There is a lot in this world that is demonic— I mean, Hollywood, S** trafficking, to barely scratch the surface. There is real, nasty, abhorrent evil in this world. Don’t we bloody know it.
Which is why it’s lazy to throw the word ‘demonic’ around like it’s harmless.
Some people are so heavy handed with their use of the term 'demonic' for anything vaguely mystical. It has become tiresome. It loses its charge. Just like when people overuse words like racist and bigot — those words used to carry incredibly heavy weight, now people use them with every second breath and so they lose their power when used properly.
People have become lazy with their words and narrow with their minds.
People who are a little between worlds— who maybe believe in Jesus Christ but also believe in the energetic nature of the universe (neither of which are in competition), may have an underlying little conflict when it comes to this chat.
When you really see beyond all indoctrination, and allow yourself to go beyond the confines of religious dogma, you arrive at a very natural place— you see how the world around us was designed and how are are to fully participate with it.
We have decades of evidence that belief changes outcomes, and nobody argues about it in these contexts.
Listen before I go on, I KNOW that my readers have spent YEARS understanding these concepts so please know I’m not sharing this so as to school you. I know you are not new to this (you will love the specifics though once we get into them later in this post!!).
I’m sharing this little intro here because I just know there are readers who are secretly conflicted in this area.
Take the placebo effect. Someone is given a sugar pill, told it’s medicine, and their body responds — pain decreases, symptoms improve, sometimes significantly. Not because the pill did anything though— because their belief did something. They expected it. Nobody calls that demonic because it’s one of the most well-documented phenomena in medicine.
Or take an athlete before the Olympics. They visualise their race in great detail, followed by them standing on the podium. They do this so that their mind and body and entire energetic being (cos that’s what we are!) are rehearsing and fully expecting that result to happen. It’s an old technique used by many of the greats. Nobody calls that witchcraft. We call it training.
Think about the self-fulfilling prophecy. My mum used to say this all the time when we were kids— ‘don’t say that, you’ll make it a self fulfilling prophecy!’. If you keep repeating stories about yourself, or about the world, and they become your unwavering convictions— You’re going to see more and more of them.
This is why when poor people win the lotto, they usually go back to being poor. Why? They had the money, but not the identity to hold it. “We’re poor people who got lucky” is the honest perception. And so life then bends to that perception. It’s why people who have rock solid perceptions of themselves as wealthy, could lose it all tomorrow and rebuild no problem.
So when I pray for something and I actually let myself feel what it would be like if it were already true — that’s not a spooky ritual. It’s the same mechanism. I’m just calling it what it is: prayer, participated in fully, with my whole self, not just my words.
We all know that the universe we live in is marvellous beyond comprehension. Nature itself bamboozles us so much with it’s intelligence that it’s hard to argue with the idea of a loving Creator (at least for me).
So when we do this lazy lumping— like ‘all conscious creation is just witchcraft’… it’s just that— lazy.
Consciously aligning your thoughts with what you want, making sure your beliefs are in integrity with the life you’re most called to, ensuring your expectations and habits match up with where you wanna go— I wouldn’t even call this woo woo (and I’m a first class science gal my pals).
Our imaginations are a gift from God that we oughta use well.
We are using them all the time. Sometimes, we’re making up bizarre stories about other people, or picturing worst case scenario in full high definition pixels. If you believe in using your imagination to worry? You better believe in your imagination to create beauty, goodness, vitality. Using our imaginations only to create drama is lazy.
When you imagine something with enough oomph, with enough consistency and with enough emotional power and conviction? You will experience it in your reality.
Is this not a form of prayer? Using a gift God gave you for benefit rather than drama?
This is a basic creative mechanism, GIFTED to us by God. Let me emphasise that word— GIFTED to us by God.
So where I stand? is rather than live as if we are puppets, waiting to be moved around like chess piece, we actually use our God given faculties to:
Exercise your free will to be fully coherent inside with the life you say you want and the life you MUST participate in creating.
Align your thoughts and expectations with beautiful outcomes.
Consciously choose to feel in your body the naturalness of what it is you want.
I’m not going to give a full backstory of my faith journey— you can comb back through my Substack if you’re interested and you’ll be able to trace the journey— from my days of very open minded spirituality, to Christ, to the muddled politicised christianity, then PHEW…. onto to the true freedom of Jesus beyond all the propaganda.
ALRIGHT now LETS GO.
Today I’m going to write about:
a) Full raw riff on what I believe is the sweet spot between honouring our creator and also REACHING OUT AND GRABBING WHAT WE WANT BY THE KAHUNAS OK BECAUSE THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS WITHIN OK? Yes. All caps.
b) How to pray as a participant, not as a beggar with empty words and no real faith.
