Loved listening to this Peta. I missed your spoken ‘rambles’ . Looking forward to more to come.

I’m so inspired by your motivation to get back into exercise postpartum. I am just over a year postpartum with my 1st little boy and I’m really struggling with getting my exercise mojo back. Do you make up your own routines or follow videos? Looking forward to your own exercise videos coming out in the future. ❤️🥰🙏

I’m sure you’re moving plenty !! but I feel you— It does feel good to get moving again :) Have a matcha, pop some reaaaallllyyyyy good music on and have a groove to begin. I do a mix between my own routines + following a workout online… I do roughly two focussed strength days and three (or 4) ‘full body’ days but in a lighter, Pilates style flow, with a nice aerobic warm up. And then walking wherever it fits. I do it messily too- kids around, broken into bits if I have to. It’s not a stress but an energy boost for me. Have a feel into if there’s a style of movement that feels fun for you and start there- once you’re in momentum you can explore other things. I saw a woman on YouTube called ‘pregnancy and postpartum tv’ who does VERY basic workouts for pregnancy and post partum- that could be a good place to start! Short too- 20 mins ish . And yes! Planning to offer workouts in the near future. All in right timing . Xx

Thanks so much for your reply Peta. Yes definitely moving plenty.. (especially the first 10 months where I walked with bub in carrier for at least one of his naps.. but now it’s been too hot and he is getting too heavy!)

I love aerobics type workouts so might try some you tube as you suggested for some inspiration. I think it’s just getting back into it and setting a routine. I also love the idea of having the kids around and so it doesn’t have to flow perfectly. Thanks again 🙏🥰

Thanks for sharing, enjoyed hearing your voice. Appreciate you sharing honestly about postpartum. I can relate about getting to into my head and be gripped by that also. The reminder to take every thought captive is something I’m choosing to do one moment at a time as well.

Was thinking about some books you may enjoy in this stage (to go along with your bedside stack) that I wish I had been introduced to a long time ago. Would have saved me thousands of dollars on therapy and have kept me from what felt like an endless pursuit of trying to understand why I am the way I am. It’s called The Aware Baby and Tears and Tantrums, both by Aletha Solter. I read them with no expectations, just wanted to learn how to better support my son more and found myself being healed from unresolved conflict from my childhood that had been suppressed my whole life. It was very eye opening, comforting and transforming. It’s like the books summed it all up in a way that made more sense than anything I’ve ever learned. The Tears and Tantrum one is a short read compared to Aware Baby but touches on a lot of the same concepts. Anyways has helped me and my son have a deeper bond as well as see the inner child in those close to me who may still be carrying around hurt as well. I would highly recommend these books to anyone, not just moms!

Althea Solter is a total icon - the OG of emotionally literate mothering - her books were so important for me 30+ yrs ago ❤️
