Firstly, as a previous celebrant who did not like the vibe most people have of I’m just here for the bar tab and can’t be bothered with the ceremony thing 🫠 I very much only worked with couples who wanted the ceremony to be different, meaningful and include rituals and their community in unique ways, even beyond just being witnesses.
I love a no cook dinner night and grilled is so good. 🙌🏽I try get my hubby to do home made pizzas once a week 👌🏽
I’m the eldest out of 5 half brothers on 2 sides of family but didn’t grow up with any of them, and 100% am always the prepare one with extra snacks for other peoples kids and a boot full of practical things. It’s a vibe. 💪🏽
I’ve circled around writing and writing a bloody post now for weeks and it’s becoming a painful saga. Just press send already 🫡🙌🏽
i get that. ask yourself whether you're happy for it to be on the internet. Sometimes the resistance is not fear but because we've shared something too private. Maybe you need to just go over it when you're in a good state and you will feel in your body when its time to post.
Thanks lovely. Weirdly I’ve already shared more of it here in an other post. I’ll rest and come back around when I feel better. Thanks for taking time to reply 💜
Ok thanks. Yeah I’ve noticed that. I think I’ve been charged twice for another subscription and now can’t upgrade yours 🤷🏽♀️ I’ll try again soon: thanks
Oh and yes, how to write without your mood affecting it. Tell me more! I’m also trying to figure to how I can be consistent to a promise of sending when I’m mostly at home with my 2 and 4 years old. Tips and tricks?
Lovely read Peta! As you know I've always felt a connection to you and followed you from your previous company and "Supercharged" days. I am two years younger than your Mom, and my daughter is a two weeks younger than you. She was due on 8/8/88 but didn't arrive until 2.5 weeks later. You have many things that resonate with me personally, I too was raised by a single Mom, we had no money, I too feel restless when home, and homesick when I'm away, I feel so at home being barefoot, and though I grew up with half-siblings, they were 10 and 14 years older so many of the things you talk about with respect to being the oldest, are definitely me. The big difference though is that I went to six different public schools so I felt unrooted when I was a kid, and grew weary of making friends because I always had to say goodbye. And one time we had to move because of the childhood trauma event to one of my best friends at nine. So for me, community and home is something I never really had and so I really wanted to create that for my kids. I was adamant about being a stay-at-home mom because mine had to work and I wore a house key around my neck (thus being a "latch-key kid". I lived in the days of Martha Stewart and became her while raising three babies under three. Right now they are 35, 36, 37 years old. We did every art and craft thing, wrote plays for Easter every year, they went to art school after regular school for a few years, and we travelled as much as possible with them (still do, we took all the kids and spouses and grandkids to Spain two year ago). My kids live various distances from us; 2 hours to 6 hours and their energetic umbilical cords stretch that far and more lol. I let my kids be who they are and let them make their own mistakes, but I am always on the sidelines and will protect them fiercely if need be. It's the strongest love I have felt to date, so incredibly overwhelming at times. I would literally die for them. Have the most amazing birthday this weekend beautiful soul!
So much goodness here!

So strange, it won’t let me upgrade my subscription
hmmm perhaps email michaela programs@petakelly.com and she can help? Sorry. Substack can be glitchy sometimes.

This specific post is in the pipeline and coming up soon... in the meantime go back through my archives. Maybe something there for you.
