🔥 “It all becomes simpler. It becomes about faith, not anxiety dressed up as wellness.”
Such a timely read - thank you Peta 🙏🏽 always enjoy reading your work, a great reminder. Needing to check myself because definitely easy to lean into idolising the BIG wellness arena & a “wellness minimalism” approach feels like the shalom I’m needing. Thanks for sharing.
I've just landed back in Aus (literally, 30 minutes ago!) after 3 weeks in Canada/USA. Yes, my top priority in Portland was to go to New Seasons and get alllllll the beautifully branded nut butter sachets, electrolytes and Dr Bronners (brand designer here who can't resist the fall colours!) - but I THRIVED in relinquishing a lot of control I didn't have when staying in different homes. I'm on a long layover reading this, hoeing into a cheese and ham croissant with my cinnamon-sprinkled americano - feeling VITAL. I noticed, around the homes + people who are more vigilant with their health... that they experienced way more symptoms.
I'm also an eldest-daughter-seeker-of-being-right and can absolutely stray into optimising for perfection. AND, the gift of this trip was watching how that vigilance actually manifested in others as all these issues... and honestly, the tracking and the needs and checking in... it got annoying! haha. i'm like, bro, just chill. not everything needs the wellness commentary. I dosed on electrolytes on the plane... but also had my first sleeping tablet ever and it was the most easeful long haul I've ever done. I fasted on the flight "no thank you" to the airplane food... and broke my fast with a croissant. And it feels so damn good.
100%. The relentless obsession is too much. People are becoming sick because they are becoming so fragile- think they need perfect conditions to thrive (I’ve been that obsessed in the past too so I get it…. But it’s not the way as we know!)
It all starts in the mind - the body knows what we believe. I have had so many drool worthy croissants this trip and never once thought ‘better not.’ They’re a gift from God 100%.
So glad you had a joyful, vital time. Nothing better than being free to enjoy ❤️❤️❤️
Ps. Love the long haul minimalism too. I used to do so much… now I do hardly anything but pray vitality over myself/husband and my kids and enjoy the flight
Adored this article!! Hit so many nails on the head then specifically called me out on the eldest daughter perfectionism points haha
