Thissss but how do you shake the people pleaser OUT if it’s been there your entire life?

I’m pretty sure it’s ingrained in me to write “considerately” meaning: consider every angle that could attack this. And I’m tired of doing so 😪

Totally hear you. Eldest daughter/overly considerate gal in healing here ;)

I think a lot of consideration is appropriate in real life relationships— but I think it’s impossible to try and maintain the same level of consideration with your public work. I do however consider those in my real life when I write eg, protecting their dignity etc. And I also do consider many perspectives . But can i afford to bend mine so not to ruffle them ? I think it depends on what actually matters to you to share— some things can be soft, some things just can’t be.

With personal writing, memoir style etc it’s easier to tell the truth without ruffling because it’s simply personal experience— it’s unarguable. But where it gets tricky is sharing opinion, stances, views etc.

I’d say it depends on the integrity of your work. I wouldn’t encourage people to intentionally be polarising. Some work just doesn’t require that at all— some does. Eg the pro life cause. Integrity to it means you’re inevitably gonna upset people, and vice versa.
